This new Group of work represents my ongoing interest in the combination of art, design, architecture, and the idea of representing a contemporary “landscape”. I am particularly concerned with creating images that are a reflection of the overwhelming nature of our surroundings. This work is about revisiting the act of painting using marks to represent energy and movement. It has become more organic. I feel that our endless urban fabric is a state of mind that is a living, breathing machine-continually changing and always shifting. It’s relentless intensity is a form of information overload– a sensory blast. I am interested in trying to represent this feeling and the frantic pace of everyday life. Speed, movement, density, energy, hustle and bustle…… I have always been fascinated by the things that make up our “landscape” structurally, most of which cannot be seen. An endless architecture that is a series of complex layers, systems, topographies, infrastructures, webs, etc. I use these underlying structures that are found within our surroundings to represent the constant energy within it. A compounding series of maze-like images and dense facades. A pulsating environment that is alive and journeys to a imperceptible horizon. In the end it is about making a visually interesting and thought provoking image that evokes a feeling of the “landscape” which surrounds us.– Bryan Stryeski
